Q: Why is facial cleanser so important?
A: A facial cleanser helps keep skin clean by removing dirt, sweat, excess sebum (oils naturally produced by the skin), cosmetics, dead skin cells, bacteria, and any pollutants that come in contact with your skin. Cleansers are gentler than soap, which may clean your skin but may also remove too much of the natural oils that help keep your skin hydrated.
Q: Why do I need to use special facial cleansing products?
A: Cleansing is the first step in maintaining the natural beauty and healthy look of your skin. Sakura Beauty Solution® facial cleansing products free the skin gently but thoroughly of make-up, sebum and impurities without drying it out or attacking the acid protective layer. They also respect the specific characteristics of the different skin types. The skin is optimally prepared for the follow-up care steps.
Q: What are the essential skin care products for sensitive skin?
A: Start with a cleanser. A good one that works year-round is Sakura Beauty Solution® Sensitive Genlte Cleansing Foam, a gentle foaming formula that effectively removes the dirt and grime that has accumulated on your face throughout the day.
Q: How do you know which cleanser is for you?
A: It is important to know your skin type so you can choose the right cleanser accordingly; cleansers are not a one-size-fits-all deal. Typically, oily and combination/oily skin types require a gel cleanser or foam-based cleanser whereas dry or combination/dry skin types need cream-based textures. Usually skin is oiler in the summer and drier in the winter, so we suggest changing your cleanser from season to season. When choosing the right cleanser, consider what you truly need from the right facial cleanser for you. What you want your cleanser to do (prevent acne, remove makeup, etc.) so that its effects actually work for you.
Q: Is using bar soap the same as facial cleansers?
A: Bar soaps are made for the body which can make your skin feel squeaky clean, but they are not formulated for your face. They are meant for the body and if they are used on your facial skin, a bar soap can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it tight, dry, and dehydrated. The skin on the body is different from facial skin—thicker and more resilient and can therefore handle bar soaps. Our facial skin, on the other hand, necessitates a gentler cleanser that is specifically formulated for the face.
Q: How often should I cleanse my face?
A: The general rule of thumb for cleansing is twice a day, morning and night. Once a day may not be enough and anything more than twice a day is over-washing, which can strip the skin and potentially damage the protective moisture barrier. Makeup wearers especially need to cleanse at night to thoroughly remove makeup. Perhaps you don’t believe the need to do a morning cleanse since you already washed the night before but cleansing in the morning is just as important because your skin is in repairing itself at night while you sleep and that process includes the skin secreting oils and toxins. It’s best to start your day off with a clean slate so wash your face both morning and night.
